John “Buck” O’Neil’s New Book with QR Codes is INNOVATIVE and well worth the admission price!

July 2, 2022- Leading authority on baseball, Premier Author and Historian Phil S. Dixon has scored another home run with his latest publication, “John 'Buck' O’Neil, The Rookie, His Words, His Voice,” just weeks before the legendary Monarchs’ player/manager’s 2022 Hall of Fame enshrinement. There are twenty-two chapters of the most entertaining baseball stories to hit the market in 2022. Over the weekend we visited Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There were enough O’Neil fans in that city to start a fan club! We are also shipping books nation-wide.

It’s shipping day for orders of the book lots of people are talking about, including John “Buck” O’Neil himself, because of the wonderful addition of QR codes! Every one of Buck’s QR segments come from 1985 never before heard interviews with the author Phil S. Dixon! We have produced the first sports book to use QR codes in this way!

In 1938 O'Neil was a new addition on one of baseball's most iconic teams, the Kansas City Monarchs. In this book O’Neil’s 1938 season is painstakingly recreated in ways never before examined by other books. After some discussion of how he arrived in Kansas City, we start with spring training and continue through the entire season, game by game, one amazing event after another. This book, however, has much more than O’Neil’s story. His teammates, his opponents, in and out of the Negro American League, are discussed with stories and illustrations. Many of the stories are told by Buck himself. This time however, you get to sit in the room and listen as he talks.

Travel with, and read along on the exciting exploits of Buck and others like: Newt Allen, Henry Milton, I.V. Barnes, Ted Strong, Hilton Smith, Norman “Turkey” Stearnes, Wilber “Bullet” Rogan, Andy Cooper and many more who participated in the one-year-old Negro American League. This book is loaded with information you WILL NOT find on the internet or in other books. It’s fully indexed and illustrated with 50+ archival photographs. Also included is a complete roster of every Monarch team member for the 1938 season, along with the exact dates they joined the squad.

What is a QR Code? QR codes are frequently used to track information about products. Many smartphones have built-in QR readers. They are often used in marketing, menus and advertising campaigns. In Buck’s book you get to hear voice segments of interviews between author and O’Neil in 11 dramatic QR codes taken from a 1985 interview. Simply scan any the QR codes on any Android device that has a camera, whether it's a smartphone or a tablet. Once you've scanned the code, you can open or share its URL (the website it points to) as freely as reading this book.

If you have Amazon Prime you can order it for next day delivery! Order from NLBalive.com and I’ll throw in three (3) Hall of Fame player baseball cards from my 1987 series!
